Sound Designer, Composer

December 2018 - July 2019

In Drift Light, players embark on a journey into a crystalline cave in search of mementos from their grandfather, who explored the caverns many years ago. To develop an accompanying soundscape that was gritty and tactile, I opted for using binaural recording and processing techniques. In this clip, I break down how I recorded and integrated some of the sounds that pair with the player’s lantern, a diegetic UI element that glows to reflect the current orientation of gravity in the game (one of the primary mechanics for platforming). I also wrote and recorded a soundtrack that takes influence from Boards of Canada and other ambient artists with orchestral undertones.
